So ill be honest I am SOOOO far gone from the shotgun world I have literally zero knowledge on what was available, is available, has been banned (yes ive been doing my part against this as we all should) im at a loss as to whats good / bad / worth it , as ive always focused on the long range game im a fish outta water here.

Idea shot set up-

Reliabililty is # 1 , Pump, 18.5" , box mag, pistol grip and adjustable stock, mostly 2 3/4 buckshot will be run if that matters

Anything like that worth buying ? I've seen a few cheaper options that dont seem to be favored..

Or hell, maybe you can recommended me some other set up thats close to that? Or have something to sell?

I was kind of in the same shoes as you not long ago. I’ve always liked mossberg shotguns so I picked up a used 590 with a 20” pipe. Had to put a better recoil pad on it but other than that it’s been great. I shoot mostly 2 3/4 00 buckshot. It’s deadly inside 30 yards, 40 is really pushing it.

Mossberg 590RM is what you are looking for.
 
Not at all what you specified, but I'd recommend a 1301 Beretta. You said reliability is #1.

I have so many pump shotguns that haven't even been taken out since I got my 1301. It's that good.

Any particular reason you want a detachable mag? Slipping a couple shells into the tube magazine between targets is pretty quick with an afternoon of practice, and you don't have to mess with dropping/swapping mags or the added bulk.

Everybody likes different things though, if you want the Mossberg or something similar there's nothing wrong with that.
 
To me, a box magazine on a shotgun is kinda like tying a curling rock to your nutsack. It might look cool to do, but you're going to have problems moving around with it.

Pump shotguns are Mossberg 500 models (500, 590, 590A1), even their Maverick 88 is a solid economical choice.
Older Remington 870 Wingmasters are also highly regarded.

Autos= Italians, Beretta/Benelli are top tier solid as they come. Buy once, cry once (I too recommend the 1301 Mod 2)

I own several 'cause it depends on what you're going to use them for. A trap gun is different than a Skeet. Both are different than a slug gun for deer...what are you going to be using it for?

Thanks for the info definitely looks like a contender!

As far as the detachable, basically im old and crippled. (40 , to many injuries) and with no rhyme or reason ill move wrong , pinch a nerve and whole arms useless for 5-20 min 😂😂😂 i mean it like completely numb and is only good for basic movment.. so mags are just more convenient some day. Quick swap ans keep having fun or make an even of reloading
 
Fair enough, we all have our own reasons for what we are looking for.

For me, the light weight of the 1301 (21" comp in my case) is the go to. Slick action, buttery smooth reloads, simple manual of arms is a no brainer.

I use it for shooting various steel targets and clays on my short range behind the barn, it still has the original ic choke but I did buy a 2" extended im that have yet to screw in for slightly longer clay hits.

The fact that I have never cleaned it in the years I've owned it and it still never misses a beat is just icing on the cake.

I do spray lube into the action from time to time, then shake it out and keep shooting.
 
I have a 590M, while I like the shotgun a lot the mag is big, bulky, heavy and cumbersome
They are so thick and bulky I don’t know how you would carry any spares without it being a pia
I think the reg 590 is better as it’s lighter and easier to move around with and use
Can get a few shotgun cards and have lots of spare ammo on hand and it’s easy to stuff the tube mag full as you go
If you want a semi the beretta 1301 is the way to go

I think you answered your own question.. If you have old injuries and/or nerve damage, I think the last thing you want is the weight/bulk of a big box magazine with a full load. Even adding a +2 extension tube to a standard pump (then the subsequent weight change) =the dynamics change.

I think it comes down to semi or pump, and managing O/A weight. The semi will have far less felt recoil, and guns like 1301s are held in such high regard you could probably do no wrong. For pumps, 500/590 or a Wingmaster? If you're shooting more than carrying, just pick the one you like most. A Wingmaster has a steel (vs aluminum) receiver and feels lighter on longer carries.

Back to your arms not working if you pinch a nerve-the relatively low weight of something like a 500 or 590 (with a standard weight barrel, not an A1) @ 18"-20"=weight will be closer to your body and might work better. Mossberg changes their model so often it's hard to keep track, but there are tactical-looking, parkerized Mossberg 500 and 590 pumps out there that might scratch the tactical itch. Some in 20ga too if recoil is an issue.

I haven't had one of these in my hands and in Canada, we get the neutered version with no mag extension; mossberg 940 tactical spx I love the look of these guns, but have never shot a 940. Doesn't seem to be a ton of love for them in Canada?
 
Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and input , went with the Mossberg 590r , after looking at the atrocious size of the RM mag (wtf why is it 2" thick !) I decided to avoid it . Topped off with an aimpoint ACRO , single point sling and some random light that ill be replacing with a surefire m300 when I get around to climbing into my storage loft.

But it seems ive also been bitten by the bug to pick up a 1301.mod2 in the next few months.

It's just balanced on the tripod fo4 the pic lol I dont plan to shoot it like that, I was already asked 😂

I have 1301 comp. Love it. Put a Mesa Tactical Truckee forend on it. Next will be the Leo II grip adapter with the Kinsel buffer tube. I chose the conp cause of the swappable chokes. I fired around 2500 rounds of everything before inhad to clean it. Never lubed it either. Straight from box, dumping shells .
Wanna put an Aimpoint Acro S on the vent rib.
 
I still like 870’s for pretty much everything. Also really like 1100 and 1187 for semi auto. The magpul furniture completely changes them. I am on a long term experiment with a early production versamax and hoping they come back someday
