School me on 10/22 upgrades?

I'm looking into future upgrades for my 10/22, half for hobby/fun and the other half for a functional/reliable/awesome feeling rifle.

I read about all these trigger kits and hammer kits and springs and all that jazz, but not much explanation as to how they affect the performance or difference between stock and $$$ upgrades.. if someone could elaborate on what are the sought after upgrades and how they improve the stock parts?

Thanks for the reply. I have looked around this forum and have found some information, but in the end its all about "what I have done to my rifle", with no explanations as to what the result of the upgrades were... Just thought some people would know a bit off the top of their heads.

Thats too broad of a question for anyone to answer without writing you a novel. Every single part of the gun is available from an aftermarket source. You can build complete rifles without a single Ruger part. Ask more specific questions.
Some basics:
Tons of drop-in upgrades from basic triggers to all-out trigger groups
Tons of easy stuff like extractors, bolt buffers, charging handles, mag releases etc.
Tons of stocks from tacticool to fancy sporters to benchrest
You can build one without a single Ruger part
You can buy them bone stock and enjoy it just the same
You can swap out every part on it as you see fit
Some more specific stuff:
Accuracy requires a good barrel. Match chamber and high quality i.e. $$$ rule here
Match chamber will usually require a good extractor for reliable ejection
Factory guide rod is very rough, an aftermarket polished guide rod makes a big difference
Radiusing the bolt and polishing the bolt raceway will help it cycle everything more reliably including subsonic rounds
Good triggers are available from basic drop-in hammer kits, complete new parts kit for your trigger group or even complete trigger groups
Factory 10 rd rotary mags feed the best

Looks like what I may end up doing. I bought a 10/22 with the intention of swapping the stock, barrel and doing a trigger job. Now I've collected a Boyds stock, KIDD barrel, 2 stage trigger group, bolt, buffer and now looking at a Dlask receiver. Looks like I won't need the donor 10/22 after all.
