US Cabelas prices:

Hornady 75 gr. Steel Match: $24.99 per box of 50
PMC 62 gr. X-Tac: $9.99 per box of 20

When I saw them at Al Simmons, I remember they worked out to the same price per round... Don't recall what it was, and that was a while ago.

Anybody able to comment on commercial 62gn ammo like PMC?

My 16" 1:9 SR build (fortunately) loves PMC 62g. I'm convinced it's a solid 2 MOA factory load, if not better.

I like it so much I've been buying cases when they go on sale with CanadaAmmo, total cost is $471.00 shipped.
The price has gone up $1.00 per box, and they are out of stock, so my only regret is not buying more.

Only thing I can't speak too is the quality of the brass because I don't reload yet, but I have almost all my brass.

I also found almost identical results with Amercian Eagle 62g green tip in those 120 round green plastic "mini ammo boxes". The AE stuff I bought locally, and you won't find it online for prices anywhere near the PMC when CanadaAmmo has it's sale. (If the OP buys all the 62g when it restocks before I get more, I'll be sour)

My barrel also loves the 55g PMC at 100m and even 200m, although I see groups open up at 200m slightly when compared to the 62g.

I've got a 16" 1/7 twist colt barrel. I'm really just trying to find decent ammo that doesn't break the bank. Some ammo is so expensive it would prevent me from taking the course I intend to take. If all goes well I intend to compete in a service rifle match later in the year. I could easily burn through 1000-1500 rounds this year. I have little mouths to feed so I'm trying to be frugal.

If I could get steel match for $.50 a round I would probably stop hand loading match ammo.

That is pretty much my component cost now.

Imagine they would give a discount if buying in bulk, which would probably make it pretty close to $0.50 per round.

I contacted SFRC and they informed me that a bulk discount is not available for Hornady Match ammo. No room to move they say.

A range day with a box or two of as many different types of ammo you can find available in bulk, and the rifle with tell you what it likes
