Like the title says, looking for a mag fed bolt gun. Something like a 10 rounder in .308.

I know you can get kits for the Remmy 700, but I heard they're expensive and have their problems...

Thanks!

Ten round mags look cool but they can interfere if you like to shoot prone off a low bipod. The good thing about the bottom metal that uses AI type mags is you can get five round mags as well. Also AI type mags are available from more than a few sources.

I can't comment on problems with aftermarket bottom metal as I've never owned or installed any. As with anything, some stuff is good, some stuff crap. The available products have been around long enough that you should be able to tell what is what.

***Edit*** Not to say there is anything wrong with ten round mags. I'm suggesting you should have both ten and five round mags.:D

Accuracy International AICS is the last word in magazines for 308 bolt guns. There is nothing better. They are available in 5 and 10 rounds. Don't let getting low to the ground sway you from the 10 rounder.

Google it and you will find all sorts of options for you to use them.

Mystic Precision has access to bottom metal kits from CDI.

The CDI kits accept AICS magazines (not included). (Ruger's Scout magazines are clones of those too).

I'm happy with the CDI offering for the Savage 110 for .308 Win.

If you have a factory Remington with the BDL style inlet, you will have to either find a bottom metal kit that drops in to that inletting, OR have someone redo the inletting to allow the use of the more common Badger M5 style bottom metal. I had a Rem 700 with factory inletting that I installed a Wyatts bottom metal (no extra stock work required) and their mag worked good and is fairly economical too. The only thing I didn't care for on the Wyatts was the mag release button is almost indentical to the Rem 700 floor plate latch that while works well, with gloves it can be harder to operate. My current rifle uses PTG bottom metal with the AI mags and it works great too.

The savage model 10 fcp-sr has 10 rd box mag, the thing is beautiful and hilarious when I take it out hunting and everyone thinks I am doing something illegal... I don't know what the actual make of the box mag is because I do want to get a 5 rounder (if anyone knows what magazine will fit it, would be greatly appreciated so I can pick one up). 10 rd single stack are a little on the ridiculously tall side though for most applications, they are also a little on the heavy side as well.

AICS mags are the very best aftermarket mags you can use. I am sure there are other makers of kits for the 700 but I've only used ATRS and V-Bull Precision bottom metal and both work excellently

What a gorgeous rifle! all the images ive seen (on google) have the Desert Digital paint job. Anyone know where one can get such a beaut?

The best option is to buy an action that is cut for AI AW mags. These are the mags that are used in their AW rifles. They are double stack and double feed whereas the AICS ones are single stack and single feed. The 10 rd. AW mag is the same length as the 5 rd. AICS mag. They have a longer internal length than the AICS even when the front plate in the AICS is removed.

10 rd. AW, 5 rd. AICS, old 5 rd. AE mag

The AW fits in AICS bottom metal (Badger Ord., at least)

Here is an action that accepts both AICS and AW mags:

Badger Ord. M2008 action has AW mags as an option.

Most dealers should have them, the rifle is pretty kick ass for factory, it comes with the accu-stock with tan digital camo paint, accu-trigger. Again all of this stuff is included right from factory so just find someone who sells savages and you should be able to pick one up :)
