Hi guys I was out on a property this morning chasing deer and I stopped in for a chat with the farmer, he quizzed me about Scopes..

He asked if there was a scope that if there was an animal at a few hundred yards away that you could just put the scope on it an know where to shoot.

I mentioned that there was a scope called the burris eliminator which is designed with this in mind an that if you press a button it will give a reading and put a Red dot where to aim at that distance?

is that right?

im going to google what I can an find out more but someone may of had one or uses one..

how does It all work an is there a setting in which you determine what calibre you are using or something?

is the burris 1 ok for it or are the 2 or 3 a must?

there I a 2nd hand one on a classified for $700, burris eliminator 1, which im tempted to let him know about!

Thanks for your help

I have 2 Eliminator 3's. They work awesome. Enter caliber, grain,.etc. Ballistic solution is calculated for you. $1700CDN at Cabelas.ca. But they currently have a $100 and $200 cash rebate depending on if you buy the 3.5x10x40 or the 4x16x50. Great range finder built in as well. But they are a heavy piece of kit.

thanks! im keen to hear some more feedback.

especially about the models, 1 , 2 and 3, does the model 1 do a good job also?

thanks

WL

my cousin has the 1, and even though he loves it, it is HUGE, and heavy, and certainly makes it a handful to carry without a sling on............... My thoughts were that it would be an excellent stationary gun scope..........used in a tree stand or blind. Only problem with that is that you should already know the distances you can see from your blind as you checked that all out before the hunt.

Do they work as good as its advertised?
weights not really an issue... truck gun for a farm

From what I've heard they are ok, optics planet is a good place to find reviews, but most of the reviews are from folks without a lot of experience, I would trust the opinions of firearm forums better, but from what I can tell they are good.

If I had the money I'd get the 4-16 and put it on a designated coyote rifle, would be nice for some of the large open fields around here, the weight wouldn't matter when your resting it on top of a fence post or similar ;)

get one you wont regret it. I had the 4-12x42 and really liked it. It really works as advertised and it will give you the right POI up to at least 500 yards. Perfect for hunting !

I was talking with a guy at one of the scope sellers in the USA and he told me that they are getting a fair number of returns on the Burris Eliminator 3 due to problems with the Electronics. I have not been able to find a lt of feedback - anone experienced problems?

I have the 2 . I like it.I have it mounted on a xbolt 7mm rem mag . It is only good to about 700 yards on deer witch is about right for the energy of my 7mm loads. If I do my part I usally am moa or little better with it to 700 yards.I have had for a year and started out on a 270 then on 7mm and had it on my 300 rum for a bit. It has worked great on all 3 rifles. They are a little difficult to figure out but once you do they are actually simple to set.Now here is a couple things I don't like about them, they will not range below -10 cel.(good for about 5 minutes out of the truck) and the dot is hard to see with the sun in your back. The glass isn't to bad on it. I think they are over priced but so is just about everything.
I have a buddy that bought the 3,the glass seams a little better , I like the 16x , haven't quite figured out the wind compensator on it yet.The dot on his is to big( it covers a 18'' target at 700 yds. so not sure if that is the way they are or if there is a problem with it,the 2 has a lot smaller dot.) So I am not quite sold on the 3 yet but time will tell.Overall I like mine,
