School me on Red Dots

Tactical imports has the hensoldt rsa for 399 right now. It's a smoking deal for a red dot that auto adjusts to ambient light and has solar backup power source. Very high quality red dot used by military forces and retails for much more.

I would second this, but the slide-lock is different than the push-lock on mine, and I'm not sure how good or bad that is! The auto-adjust for the dot is great (goes from about 2 - 4 moa depending upon intensity), and there is no green/blue tint when looking through optic.

Thanks for the info. Called Sail in Vaughan - close to home. Yesterday they received a batch from their supplier. They also have a 15% discount an just about everything in he store. The TRS-25 cost me $102 before taxes. Pretty impressive sight for a really good price. Almost bought two but wife still thinks I only own one gun.

Sounds like my wife. Some day the cat will be out of the bag, but it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I'm in the same boat right now as the OP, but what I can't decide on is whether to go with the TRS-25 ($139.99 at Jo Brooks, which is a twenty minute drive) or getting an Aimpoint H1, preferably used off the EE, but whichever one would be with the High Rise option.

What I like about the H1: Good name, good reputation, quick release base, durable, long battery life, a higher end optic all around.
What I don't like so much: Price ($695.00 at Jo Brooks)

What I like about the TRS-25: Price, decent optic for what you pay, readily available, decent battery life, pretty durable,
What I don't like about it: Stock HiRise isn't quick release (easy fix, but still), the term 'get what you pay for' comes up a lot when buying optics

I'm just building a PDW-style rifle, and thought one of these two optics would compliment well, and I don't plan on shooting past 50m, except maybe to test here and there. I made a project gun out of my SKS and tacticooled that as much as a I could, as cheaply as I could, and got what I paid for. Now I want to do a cool, unique gun, but done right.

Opinions?

Given the massive price difference, if I were you I would get the bushnell and try it. If you don't like it sell it on EE for a bit of a loss. Worst case it'll cost you $20-30 to realize that you really do want to spend $700 on the aimpoint. Of course, you could also do this in reverse and buy the aimpoint first, but there's a bigger risk you'll end up deciding to keep it ;)

That's what I like about the Aimpoint, even if I don't like it on my AR I can put it on my CSA, and while the same could be said about the Bushnell I already have several cheap (read: cheaper) red dots I bought/got in trades, that it's almost worth the price of a H1 to at least have a diamond in and amongst the rough, haha
