School me on swapping to another upper/different calibre

Thanks all.

So a complete 7.62x39 upper with appropriate barrel would be a quick swap but would need 7.62x39-specific bolt and mags...?

Yep. CanadaAmmo has NEA complete 7.62x39 uppers in 7.5, 14.5, and 16.1" if you were still looking/deciding on one. I'm building a couple 7.62x39 ARs myself, one with a 7.5" NEA barrel and one with a 16" Anderson barrel. Both will be using NEA BCGs. 7.62x39 BCGs or just bolts if you want to use your current carrier group can be found at SFRC, True North Arms, and CanadaAmmo I think. I've bought a few C-Products Defense 10 round XCR-L mags that I'm gonna use in them because I like their LAR-15 magazines and they seem to work well. Can be found at BullsEye London and SFRC. Any idea what upper you were looking to buy? I'd be interested in hearing how it works out for you, whatever one you end up going with.

Also I partially just wanted to comment to give you praise on your Colonel Chestbridge profile photo, bravo sir.

You wont regret it. It is a lot of fun. Buy an extra power hammer spring if you plan on shooting surplus x39. They are really cheap. I had about 10% light strikes without it and 0% now.

Buying a complete upper generally means the BCG is included, so about all you need is mags. I've done this with an NEA 7.62 upper (14") onto an NEA lower, no problems. Just use some xcr-l 7.62 pistol mags and you're good to go. Only issue might be fit of the upper/lower, I've had minor fit issues with other uppers on other lowers, but nothing too serious, either a tiny bit of slop, or a little snug.

Course if you buy an upper, it's only a matter of time until you buy a lower to go with it, it's such a PIA to swap them out all the time ;) ;) ;)
