Hey guys, I've been thinking it's getting to be time for a pump action shotgun and I'd like you to tell me a thing or two about model 12 shotguns. Basically, I'm looking for a multi purpose shotgun, mostly for fun out in the bush, hunting grouse, home defense, and maybe bear defense on the odd occasion. My father owns a model 12 in 20 guage and I really like that smooth action, and model 12's pop up enough on these boards that I have a good chance getting one.
I'm not really into the all black shotguns and prefer more of the old school riot gun type, really plain and simple without all the gadgets and rails. If I got a model 12 I might consider getting a heat shield / bayonet lug reproduction just because it looks cool. I've seen some of the new stuff and I'm not terribly impressed with their fit and finish (I'm looking at you 870 express).
Is there anything in particular I should be on the lookout for on a model 12?
Thanks for the help!
