school me on this revolver

What are the vertical lines on the side of the cylinder of the revolver in this ad??...

It's just the normal marking from the cylinder stop dragging on the cylinder when it rotates. Perfectly normal. Take a look at the used revolvers on Armco's (CGN sponsor- see ads at top of page) site. They all have 'em.

Not really, 100 rounds doesn't count dry firing - and you'll get bolt drag from that too. I doubt it would get any worse in 30,000 rounds and I've seen revolvers come out of the box new with it.

What are the vertical lines on the side of the cylinder of the revolver in this ad?? Not looking to buy, but is that wear from 100 rounds or.......just curious...
Is that surface rust in the cylinders??

Looking at my own GP, I can say that the ring does look like honest wear from 100 rounds and several dry fires. It is a very slight. Rather than the turn "ring" one should look for peening of the notches, where the corners look chewed up and show burrs.

Doesn't look like rust. Could be some patina from the cartridge brass rubbed off on the chamber walls.

The GP in the link is an excellent example that looks brand new, regardless of the turn ring, IMO. I'd buy it at that price if I was in the market for one.

Agreed...It looks like a revolver in fine condition and at a good price for that example. As stated above, that ring shows up right away.

Has anyone wornout a Ruger GP 100

Has anyone worn out a ruger gp 100. 1 round fired or 50,000 rounds fired. If it is well maintained it should last longer than you.

HOWDY ; I used and abused a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 357 to unfit for competion use .IT took years of hot loaded silouette shooting then years of cowboy shooting and once I replaced the lite springs with stock it contunies life as a plinker for someone else .
