Some people want to clean their extractors, but are having trouble getting them out.
I've had my extractor out, as it was gummed up and not moving very freely - I just did it again and took some pics.

I sprayed some penetrating oil on it the first time, and let it sit a few minutes.
The extractor itself just rocks back and forth sitting on a ledge like a scale beam, and is held in place by the pin you can see pushing on the back of the extractor, which has tension on it from a small (but powerful) spring behind the pin, (that you can't see).

Hope this helps!

You need to get in between the pin and the back of the extractor with something very small and thin. I used a knife point.
While holding the pin back in it's hole, the extractor will become loose, and you should be able to pluck it out.

There might be a better way to do this, so maybe someone will chime in!

Be careful not to let the pin and spring go shooting off someplace.....

With the extractor out, you can now take the pin and spring out.
Get a pipe cleaner into that little hole and clean out the gunk. Clean the pin and spring.

Putting it all back together is just the reverse of taking it out; however, you don't need any tools to re-install, just put the spring and pin in, and then slide the extractor in against the pin until
it drops back into place....but be sure that the extractor is pushed all the way down when you're done - there should be no gap between the pin
and the back of the extractor. Below you can see the "shoulder" that the pin sits in. That little notch is what keeps the extractor in place, and also the reason you
go crazy trying to get it out.

No prob Clint... hey long time no see - how's she going up North!

Things are going well. Not up north any more. Finished up there 3 yrs ago and working at Gibraltar now.

Good pictures. Did you smooth out the burrs in the bolt when you had the extractor out? I'll probably touch up rough spots (if any) and polish the extractor hook on mine when I get it apart if I don't shoot springs and plungers across the basement.
