Anyone else pick one of these up? I had never heard of them before, but the few posts I found on the net from people that own them, say they are a great target rifle.
I actually bought 2, 1 complete in VG condition, and one beater he had as a parts rifle with a ringed bore. Both have great looking bores (other then the ring).
I haven't got it out to shoot yet, but first impression is very good. Fairly hefty gun with 26 3/4" heavy barrel, great sights (front takes Anschutz inserts). It's a single shot, and there is no ejector, you have to pluck the spent case out of the bolt. Trigger is 2 stage with a very decent pull. Bolt and trigger design is very simple and rugged, all milled steel parts on this thing. Really just a no nonsense, tough ass target rifle.

Here is the beater rifle, no bolt, and barrel is ringed, very nice walnut stock with no cracks or dings. I'm sure the stock and sights are worth what I paid for the whole thing. If I can find a bolt it would be cool, but it doesn't matter much, I can just swap in the other bolt.
Good thing is that the barrel is ringed about 5" from the muzzle. I'm going to have my smith cut and crown the barrel just back of the ring, put some bases on it and a good scope. I will still have 20"+ of barrel, so it should be a good shooter yet. These barrels are too good to just junk.

Is there any good close up pictures of the schultz& larsen receiver out there? This .22 looks great

What shot do you want to see? These are not mine BTW....

These bases were added, there is no provision for scope mounting on these rifle. Easy to drill and tap though.

Different rifle again.

So how are they shooting?

I've been looking at these for a while but don't know enough about them to take the plunge. (Also, safes are full!) I have heard that the old Schultz and Larsen barrels were terrific.

Well I bought two Schultz and Larsen .22's from Tradex .WOW ,I finally got to go to the range today and I'm very, very impressed .I'm not very good at open sights ,BUT MAN WHAT PISS CUTTERS THEY ARE.I shot Winchester wildcat"s ,Winchester target ammo and Blazer ammo. They all did well ,all under a inch at 50 yards. One shot 1" high out of the box at 50 yards and the other one out of the box was shot 12" to the right .But overall I'm very happy with the Schultz and Larsen .22's .

I'm working with a guy in the US to have some newly made rear target peeps for these guns. I'll have more info in about a week. If the peeps can be made, there will be some sunshades made up as well.

Finally finished up the spare parts rifle with the ringed barrel. Had the barrel cut just behind the ring, it's a little over 20" now. Weaver #45 bases are for round receivers and work perfect for these rifles. It's heavy, but it balances very well. Stock feels pretty good for off hand shooting. I haven't got it to the range yet, but I think it's going to be a tack driver.

Hitzy, what ever happened with the new target peep's?

Took a long time to get the thread pitch sorted out. He originally made one up from one of his buddies M70's and it had 6x1 metric and mine was 6x.75. So there seems to be some variation on the sights on the M70's.
His shop is www.aperturesnmore.com if you want to email him about making a few for you. The one he made me is top notch. I still need to get a few more from him......I kind of forgot about it with all the house work we are doing.

that would be great i have one of these neat rifles aswell a new peep sight would be a good upgrade i think there is a lot of potential in this target gun

The bolt doesn't eject the casing?

They look good. I wouldn't have minded getting one just to try my hand at refinishing a stock. The fact that the casing isn't ejected kind of turns me off this rifle though.

I have a Hungarian military trainer in .22 and it was never made with an ejector and like Hitzy's rifle one has to pluck out the casing. Since it is a single shot it really isn't that much of an inconvenience but hey, to each their own.
