Scirocco 'I' vs Scirocco II bullets -- difference?

I have sectioned both those bullets, and the Scirocco II are much heavier jacketed towards the rear of the bullet.

I actually turned a 180 gr Scirocco I bullet right inside out in a bull moose when I hit the large bone in the shoulder. [30-06] I wrote Swift about it, and they said they were working on a redesign.

This became the Scirocco II, I presume. I just recently took a Bull Moose with my 308 Norma Mag, using the 180 gr Scirocco II. In recovering the bullet, it stayed together very well with the remaining weight being 132 grains, or about 73%. I am quite happy with that, since this bullet would have been travelling almost 3000 fps when it hit.

They can be a bit more finicky to find a load for, but when you do, they generally shoot very well. My 308NM with the 180 Scirocco II is a ¾ moa shooter right out past 500 yards.

I believe they are just a bit tougher than the Nosler Accubond. The Scirocco I is not, however, IMHO.

Thanks for the replies.

Did that bullet that turned all the way back retain the bonding? What was the retained weight? Were you able to check it?

I developed a 280 load using 150 grain Scirocco I's that I acquired. They shoot about the same -- 3/4 moa at about 2850 fps. The lower MV might not torture the bullet as much on impact as a heavy magnum, perhaps.
