Scope adjustment dilemma, please chime in.

Hey there guys and gals, recently put an older bushnell banner 4-12 on my savage mk2 btv, and was unable to sight it in ran out of windage to the right.

Read some threads suggesting to flip one of the rings and it worked, its still close to all the way adjusted, but its sighted in, and seems to be fine now.

I'm just wondering though, I had a bushnell sportsman on it before, on the same rings and bases, and it was spot on with lots of room at adjust.

What gives, is the banner bent?
And if its sighted in now, am I good to go?

The fact that switching one ring around make such a difference tells you that the rings themselves are not as precise as you might wish. I doubt that the scope tube is bent, but I'll bet that the lenses themselves might not be perfectly aligned inside of it as well.

If you have it sighted in now, you're probably good to go, especially on a .22 rimfire. If it was a heavy-recoiling rifle, who knows?

However, having the adjustment so far off to one side leaves you looking through the edge of the lens rather than the centre, so the optical quality is probably reduced compared to a scope that is more closely centered.

It was windy as all hell today too, so I will see what I get when I get to the range with less wind. Hopefully I am good to go, the optics on the older bushnell are really nice.
