Hello ladies and Gentlemen,
I have always been an iron sight guy for a challenge while plinking but recently began enjoying and leaning towards scoped plinking

I built myself a nice little plinking rifle
91/30 action
Boyds thumbhole laminate
Timney trigger
Polished bolt
Great bore + cut and crowned muzzle 26"

Now, I have no delusions of extreme precision here I know its still a mosin at heart so no need to critisize or put me or my new toy down :p ..I built it for fun and for me as an inexpensive project. So I thank you in advance for not doing so.

Now my question ...
I am so lost when it comes to glass and was feeling a bit overwhelmed at the store
-budget 350 $
-range 50-200m max (thats all that will be done with this rifle)
-rugged enough to trust in the bush if it went hunting with me in the future
-I do like the reticles with elevation dots or holdover lines
-will be bench rest ..sand bagged when shooting 95% of time

What magnification would you recomend ?? (my eyes arnt too great but I am steady)
Also I have a bushnell legend ultra hd 4.5-14... (it was given to me.. long story trustworthy longtime friend though and seems new) would this be good for my purposes?

I thank you in advance for any informative responses and look forward to learning from the sea of knowledge that is out there..

Plz note ..I do not require info on rings or mounting methods, thanks !

You can use that Bushnell. You might want to get something else, but using that one can help you figure out how much magnification you do want.

You don't need 14x magnification for the max. range you are talking about, but you don't have to use it all. The lower end on that Legend is enough. Personally I would be inclined to use a fixed 4x like a modern Weaver K4, which would be within the budget you mentioned.
