Scope advice

Just added a nice custom M70 in .264 to my collection and looking for advice on what scope to put on it.

A lot depends on your budget, planned usage, and personal preference. Tons of options out there. I pulled a beautiful little Kahles 2-7 off my .270 Wby this last year and have replaced it with a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x40. The Kahles was a fantastic scope but I found it a little under-powered for the shooting I've found myself doing the past couple of hunting seasons (plus I guess my eyes can just use a little more help these days ).

If you're more a classic kind of guy you can always go with a quality older gloss Redfield. If you like super optics, go with a Kahles, a Swarovski, a Zeiss, a Schmidt & Bender, etc... however, money tends to generally be a deciding factor more than anything and folks end up buying what they can afford.

3.5-10x VX3 (still want to call them Vari-X) or a 4.5-14x VX3 since you live in open country (if those Drumheller-area mulies are on your draw list).

Seeing as you are describing my dream gun, I thought the topic of "what does she look like?" would have come up sooner. I'd have to say that a gun as nice as that deserves a Bushnell 6500 4.5-30 or 2.5-16x42 just for how nice the glass is (for the money). And thats a lot of magnification which is still normal for close in hunting. That rainguard works as advertised. Eye relief is good. But any of the elites are decent scopes. I am currently using a Burris
Fullfield II 3-9x40 and I think its a great scope. But as far as I am concerned, its strictly a 3200 competitor. Get the one that is on sale:D

Ok, you twisted my arm..here are some pics ;)

Used to be a 7mm RM Black Shadow. Has a 26" SS Gaillard barrel.
