scope base difficulties

Hey guys,
I just received my base for my M14s and I am trying to install it, but...I cant get the damn stripper guide off.

I removed the little pin that is inside it, but it doesnt budge at all. Am I forgetting something or should I grow some muscles?

there's only the centre roll pin-mine tapped off with a hammer( soft face, of course) but some of them can be tough- and some may be tapered- if it won't move , try a tap or 2 in the other direction-
