Scope bases on a new Savage 10~do they use thread-locker at the factory?

Hey guys~I've never had cause to even contemplate the question...but I just ordered a new Savage 10 Predator Max 1 in .243 and apparently the rifle comes with Weaver bases mounted. (my other Savage 10 didn't come with bases) Whether the factory uses thread locker or not..I might be inclined to take them off and make sure it's done properly...but I DEFINITELY will if anyone here knows that they don't.

I welcome any/all input...including if you've ever had factory-mounted bases on a Savage centerfire come loose.

As of 4 years ago when I worked at a gun counter they did not use thread locker. At that time the quality of there rings and bases, especially the screws, was poor. Unknown if that has changed in 4 years.

They definitely do not and that is the first thing to check when buying any factory issued rifle scope combo gun. Wheeler sells a nice "Inch Pounds" wrench set to use for torquing those mount and ring screws to an acceptable tightness. I usually just put a dab of my wife's clear nail polish on the threads of both the mount screws and ring screws and then follow the instructions for torque. I can tell you stories about missing deer because of loose mounts and ring screws that went unchecked. Never again

Thanks for the input guys. Kind of supports what I was thinking. Haven't had a scope base or scope come loose before...and I also haven't trusted any rifle that came with bases mounted on it. Just wondered if it was overkill to remove bases already mounted~guess not.

It hasn't been my experience that Savage uses poor quality screws...but I have seen over-driven screws on several rifles...and threads that needed some crud cleared out to get the screws to drive in properly. Guess I sort of answered my own question!
