Scope caps/covers- do you use em?

I don't like the flip ups. I use rubber, Butler Creek, bikini covers. They come off while hunting, unless it's raining.
 
I'm with Kamlooky and Oldfart on this one.
I bought a set about 20 years ago to fit my Leupold...still in use .
They are called "QD Scope Covers" Michaels of Oregon .
You could change the front and back covers to fit different size scopes by removing a little plate held on by two screws .
Once you properly set the rubber band that encircles the forearm it will snap the two covers off and out of the way with just a flick of your thumb or finger on the rear cover .
Best system that I've come across for protecting expensive glass from dust, dirt, rain, etc....
I keep them on most of the time even in storage .

Michaels of Oregon are the same people that make the Butler Creek Scope covers.....the rubber ones you and Looky have mentioned unfortunately are no longer available.
 
I've got all sorts of covers, from the rubber flip-off type kamlooky mentioned, to BC flips etc. I prefer the more expensive, see-through "storm" flip ups, or other see through ones. I've shot three big game animals shooting quickly through see-throughs, and I would likely have missed those animals if I had to fuss at all with scope covers.
 
Myself and the friends who do use 'flip-ups', have had good luck with the Leupolds. They aren't cheap, but work well, look good and are durable.

I've shot over 45 BGA using this scope cover.......33 since transferring it onto my 280 Remington Model 700 about 16 years ago....no fuss at all .

I wonder why they quit making them?
I would have them on all my optics.
They just make too much sense to me.
Those flippies drive me nanners.

In conditions along that line or close around here on the 'wet' coast, in all likelihood open sights would be the order of the day and scope considerations wouldn't enter into the equation. To be able to compensate for the odd occasion along that line, what I usually depend upon or go with is what I have on a 'few' rifles. Scopes utilizing Weaver pivot mounts for quick access to the open sights should that need arise.
 
Use to only use them for storage or transport, but two years ago some feed fell out of a bag I had on my shoulder all over the objective lense (and action :() and cleaning it waaaay away from truck was pain in arse, so now a ###y bikini is covering any scope I have in bush
 
I used the Butler Creek flip caps for awhile until took a buddy to the range, he laid the rifle down on the table and promptly broke the bell cap. What a waste. Bikini covers from now on.
