Scope chief

Scopechief

If you refer to the Bushnell's Scopechief line that was superseded by the B&L developed Elite scopes, they were, at that time, the best Bushnell offered and it shows in the quality of the scopes.
These are very good units. I have a 3-9X40 Scopechief VI on my sporterized MkIV No.1 and it has never failed to deliver. Fogproof and shockproof.
It is with that scope I realized Enfields can shoot under M.O.A. groups, given the right tailored ammunition.

I have an older Scopchief that's been on a 25-06, 30-30, 300 Wby. and a 45-70---among others.:) Never had a problem. I also have a newer Scopechief that I use for test fireing odd rifles. So far so good.
A recent "Rifle magazine" did an an evaluation of currently available scopes and concluded that Bushnells may prove to be as reliable as Leupold and other much more expensive scopes.
As far as I know they are still covered by Bushnells lifetime guarantee, but over the last 40 years have never had to test it.:D

Scpechief

I have one of the older 3x9x40 scopechief VI and have had it
on an assortment of rifles and calibers. It has always worked
perfectly, which is why I've kept it so long.Rrgards 375rum

the Bushnell Scopechief became the 3200 line, the Bausch and Lomb Balvar became the 4200 line sometime in the early 90's

I've had a 2.5 to 8x Scopechief on both my '03A4 and my .243 for eons. No fuss. Mind you, I don't know what the new ones are like.

you mean the Scopechief became the B&L Elite 3000, and the Balvar became the B&L Elite 4000

yup, my bad, then they became the 3200 and 4200 respectively

I have three Bushnell Scopchief VI's and I would say they provide a superior image (measured as "edge to edge" sharpness) compared to the 3200 series. They are a tough and reliable scope.

The older versions of the Scopechief (IV's) were nowhere near as tough.

The Scope Chief line of scopes are excellent. As good or better and brighter than the 2 x 7's, 3 x 9's, and 4 power Leupolds (which are excellent scopes).

Do they still makes these scopes

No........... discontinued a long time ago.... newer models and numbers...... Scopechief was the best model they made back then... their best model today (what ever that is) replaces it.

My experiences are the same. The VI's and B&L branded units are superb, and optically seem superior to the 3200.

I have no experience with IV's

I have a pair of bausch and lomb scopechiefs.A 3-9 on my 325wsm A bolt, and a sweet little 2-7 on my ruger 44 carbine. Both scopes are optically excellent and have been flawless at holding zero. These a usually a good deal if you can find a used one.

I havent had such good luck with the Scopechiefs - roughly half I've owned had severe parallax error at 100 y. One - a low power variable V1 (1.5 - 5 IIRC) failed mechanically, after seeing light use. I recall talking to Bushnell - they admitted that line of scopes had a flaw.

I have two Scopechief VI 4 power scopes. They are as bright and sharp and durable as any reasonably priced scope (ie. not european) you can buy.
