Scope choices 30-378 Weatherby

Hi Guys,
I just bought a 30-378 Wby. It came at such a good deal I just couldnt go wrong. It is an accumark, pretty much brand new. I had been looking at this caliber because it is just awsome...in its own right....and when the deal came up I couldnt not buy it. So now it needs a scope.

I have it narrowed down to some parameters, it is for hunting, but it doesnt have to be Totally light weight, I mean the gun already weighs 9.5 lbs, its a brute, for length too. I would like to be able to shoot out to 500-800 with some practice. It has an accubrake on it already, and yes I know they are loud, but it does manage the recoil better. Also, it wont tear apart my scope. My budget is going to be around $1000 and I would prefer to look for one that is pre-owned.

I don't know much about long range shooting/hunting, but this is what this rifle is built for, right? If anyone can explain the features I will want and what they do for you, that would also be great. I have 6 boxes of 180 gr tsx wby bullets ready to shoot. I also hand load.

VXL 4.5-15x56 B&C reticle on a Cooper M52 Varmint 25-06AI

VXL 6.5-20x56 Varm ret on a CZ 527 Kevlar 223

Great hunting scopes, adjustable for parralax with side knob, not sure which reticle is for you. If its primarily hunting B&C, primarily target the varmint or fine duplex.

Watched a fellow shooting a 338/378 weatherby ayt range a couple weeks ago he was chronying 300gr Sierra's at 2900fps man that gun had a wicket report.
Cummings showed you a couple of Leupolds I wouldn't go with anything else I think you might be needing there warranty

I put a VXL 4.5-14x56 on a friends 338-378 using a Near base and rings, nothings broke yet. I would highly reccomend the Near stuff for your wheelless cannon

Look for a used Mark 4 in your price range. Start saving for another barrel right now.
