scope choices

I didn't look thoroughly through it yet, but you may want to check the thread:
"Sticky: SKS: Optics, sights & mounts.... update dec 20"

Seems to have quite a few options listed

Had enough personaly with the Leapers/NcStar and Fido cheap @$$ scopes dieing on me. So now I got a vortex crossbow scope and I will see this weekend how it will do on the SkS and if I will be able to use the stipper clip guide or not.

ok that's that.

charlesT, did rings come with your scope?if not what size? are they tall or standard hight?

do you use a casing deflector?

what mount are you using?

thanks for the info

Madmac

Rings came with it. They are low which is what I wanted. Their quality is on par with a $50 scope.

No casing deflector is required if the scope is mounted behind the stripper clip notch in the bolt ie if you can insert the stripper clip, the spent casings can't hit the scope.

The mount I used was a Weaver Converta-Mount http://www.weaveroptics.com/rings_bases/mounting_systems/converta-mount/

This is not my original idea. See http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=42204.0

I attached the mount as low as possible. When it's time to clean or I want to use the iron sights then it is a matter of undoing two thumb screws and the scope and mount are removed. And before you ask, yes it returns to zero when remounted.
