Redfield Revenge 3-9x42 vs Leupold VX I 3-9x40

Which of these two would be a better scope for hunting rifle?
Not sure if it will go on my 7mm-08 or 308win.

Edit, not buying as I already own both these scopes.

I have a 3-9X42 Accu-Range Revenge on my 243 that I use for Whitetails - decent scope.

I have a 3-9X40 Burris E1 on my 7.08 that I use for Moose - was only about 50 bucks more than the Redfield and easily twice the scope.

Leupold are expensive (new) compared to most other brands since they are made in the USA - the 2016 prices have gone up a lot - you will get more scope for your money from many other mfg's that use cheap offshore labour.

Case in point - the Redfield (owned by Leupold) is made in the Philippines where they pay the workers 300 bucks a month - the guy working at Leupold probably makes that in a day if he stays an extra hour or two - that cost is reflected in the cost of the scope without increasing the quality.

YOU really need to look through all of your options at your price point. Just because myself or Bob down the road likes Scope A doesn't mean you will. Nikkon makes a good product I just can't stand their BDC reticles. I personally found Burris to be the clearest (in my eyes) in side by side comparisons of similarly priced scopes, so now all my guns get a Burris on them when it's time for a scope. You might hate the scope "everybody" tells you is the best and will hate it the entire time it's on your gun if you go with the "crowd".

I have the same Redfield and I wish I had bought a few more of them....SAIL was clearing them for $150. Decent scopes, rugged, nice and clear.
I got my brother the US made sister to it, the Revolution 3-9x40 and it's pretty much in line with the VX-1/Rifleman.....nice light scope with bright glass.
The VX1 is the better scope IMHO being lighter, and has slightly better glass, both are equally durable. I'd put it on the lighter weight rifle, and the Redfield on the heavier one.

I recently use Leupolds on all my hunting rifles. No real reason other than they have been great and I hate to spend a ton on a rifle that's heading into the bush. They have been great. I had a vx-2 3-9 (I just sold on the EE) and a couple vx-1 3-9x40s, I have in current set ups. Once I got the first one, I haven't switched. Cant speak for the Redfields, Ive never looked into one. I do know, you cant go wrong with the Leupold.

take both out first thing in the morning and look into the trees, do the same at last light, pick the rifle you'll be hunting with the most and pick the scope with the best low light transmission

Leupold 100% the vx1 was what started that company out all those years ago. You get amazing quality out of them and that's all I run personally I have yet to have one fail on me. Plus if anything were to go wrong the guys at korth are great to deal with.

Those scopes are so close to being the same thing mechanically and optically, you should go with looks.

Which scope looks better on which gun?

Unfortunately, with that spray-bomb easy-scratch paint finish, nothing looks worse than a Redfield.

Go with the Loopy.
