Wanted a poll , but never figured it out:D
Anyway , if you been around shooting with optics, you seen blood from someone:D
Scope too far back #1 (poor mounting)
not enough eye relief # 2( caliber/scope mistake)
poor shooter position #3 ( shooter not getting a good picture, and has a hard time finding the preset eye relief, which changes with power setting, var scopes)

Add to this as required, cause its not real funny , well maybe a little :D

Some years ago I took a friend out to the range and let him fire a Weatherby MK V in .300Wby, and he was introduced to a "magnum eyebrow" :)
I warned him not to crawl the stock....

hahahaha^ never happened to me. but then again im cautious when shooting a new cal with a scope. but i wont lie other than a .22 the only center fire Ive ever shot was a 30-06, and that was an m1 garand with no scope :D. but no Ive yet to see a scope eye

Common mistake is to get a rookie behind too much gun for the first try.

I had a buddy try my M305, and even though they don't recoil much (to an experienced shooter), he got a small touch from the scope even after instruction.

He didn't get tagged hard enough to quit shooting, but I should have started him off on the .22.

Guess I've been lucky. Lots of cheap scopes, brass buttplates, 3" magnums and strong glasses. No eyebrow alterations yet. However, I am careful how close I put my face to the hard metal thing in front of my soft outer covering on my forehead.

My uncle borrowed a 7mm to go shoot coyotes one day and cut himself wide open (bout 3 or 4 stitches). Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen. haha After saying a few words which i won't repeat we started talking about guns and I convinced him to get a nice Tikka 243 (my personal favourite for yotes) Low and behold first thing he did was crack himself again and the blood started flowing! not enough to get stictches but it took me bout 5 min to get up i was laughin so hard. THats when he told me he'd never used a scope on a rifle before so I finally taught him not to kill himself.

Definitley best two hunting trips in my life!!

scope kiss is a better term, my cousin got one from a .177 spring powered airgun about 13 years ago, she wasn't cut but she still cried.... we was just yougins :D

Best way to get hit is to shoot other people's rifles. It's even more likely if the other people are dwarfs with crap scopes.

No kidding!

The only time I've really been hit was shooting a borrowed 416 rigby. I regularly shoot heavier recoiling rifles but I'm 6'3" and the rifle's owner was about 5'3" - and had the stock cut to fit him. The first shot was fine but I was really cramped on the rifle. Should have known better than to try shot number two. It wasn't a bad hit but enough to draw a bit of blood
