Hey guys, I just started a shorty 10/22 build and I'm looking for some advice. I plan on shooting it indoors at 25 yards for the winter, but also would like to shot 50 to 100 from time to time. Also want to keep it usable for small game/varmint. This will be my first optic with any sort of magnification, so please bare with me. Basically and I don't want to over nor under scope the rifle. I was thinking something in the 4-12 range? Budget i would like to keep under $150. So what I've been looking at is:

-Tasco varmint 2.5-10x42ao on cabelas, I like that it is cheap, has a mildot reticle, and finger adjustable turrets. Normally I'd be kind of skeptical, but it seems to have solid reviews, and there was just a thread a few days back with some people highly recommending the 6-24x42ao varmint scope. I'm assuming this scope would be similar?

-Vortex crossfire, I guess in 3-9x40. I was also looking at the 1.5-5 or 2-7 but I'm wondering if maybe I would just be wishing for some more magnification on the range? Also I'm not sure, are they adjustable objective scopes? Also are the low capped turrets finger adjustable?

-Bushnell (I think trophy) 4-12x40 they have at CT, I have a trs-25 and I've been impressed with it's quality, can I expect the same from this scope? Seems to have good reviews, although I can't seem to find the same model in the Bushnell site. I get a discount already at CT, and my buddy is the sports manager, and I noticed they had a display one, so I might be able to get it fairly cheap. Is it worth the $159 retail (or less)? I believe it's an adjustable objective? Has finger adjustable turrets, and comes with covers which is nice. Plus I won't have to pay for shipping.

I'm leaning towards the Bushnell, but if anyone has any other options, suggestions, etc please feel free.

I've had a Simmons 22 Mag scope on my 10-22 for the past several years. It's a 3-9x40 w/ AO. I've been quite happy with it for a 22 scope. They go for around $80 theses days.

My used 10/22 I got off the EE has the Tasco. The " what you pay to what you get" ratio is on par with most optics. A bit cloudy and the mil dots are, well dots, but other than that, a nice looking scope, great for short range shots.

The tasco is great. My 10x40 50mm would be overkill. But I think you'd be happier with the 6x24 42mm scope. I have both and are happy with them!!!!! The 50mm scope needs really tall scope rings, however the smaller one standard rings work fine.
