Has anyone found a compact scope that will accomplish:

PRICE: under $200

..ability to store receiver with scope attached in the backpack? I am guessing overall length of the scope cannot exceed 10"

..3-9 or perhaps 2-7 magnification

..parallax at 50 yards

..decent glass

..use for plinking and small game

Cheers....

I am waiting for a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 to be shipped for my 10/22 takedown. I'll let you know in the next few days how it goes but ive heard that this combo does fit in the bag.... just barely tho

I got a Bushnell 1.5-4.5x32mm scope for my takedown. Around 100 bucks most places(79.99@SAIL no tax). It's eye relief is as such you should be able to mount it far enough back it will still fit into the ruger case. I have read some reviews that say with some optics will prevent the ruger soft bag from being used.

Did you guys use the silver rail that came with it or a different one? Which rings? Just picked up my take down two weeks ago. And pictures of your scopes on the rifle together and taken apart would be AWESOME! Thanks....

Although I haven't decided on a scope yet I did swap out the Ruger rail for a UTG low profile Tactical rail that I bought on Amazon for under $7.00. The low profile allows you to use the iron sights whilst the rail is attached...something the stock rail would not. It is rumored that you can buy rings that allow you to mount your scope and still use the iron sights but it is just a rumor.

I have seen the rings that allow you to see under for iron sights, but they usually do not make for the best sight line when your cheek is resting on the stock (too high)

After considering all the thoughts everyone shared and looking online and in the stores I made my decision and choose the Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire.

Buy once cry once.... I really didn't want to go over $200 but in the end I know, for me, I made the right decision!

Fantastic scope... The clarity of the optics is awesome! I used Leupold's medium rise quick disconnect....the low were not available... Originally I installed the inexpensive vertically split rings but one screw stripped! Truth be told, I was using a torque wrench and it stripped at about 18 inch-pounds, well short of the 20-22 as advertised by Leupold. The QD'S are better anyhow.... :)

BTW....the rings would not mount on the Ruger rail.... I used a UTG rail with a low profile so if I remove the scope I can still use the iron sights.

Zeroing the scope was simple.... A few rounds and I was done...I will fine tune it when I have more range time!

Thanks to all for their input...

Cheers....
