scope for 22 lr target rifle

ISTR getting my Millett TRS on sale for around $300, less rings. I have it on a Savage and I think so do a few other CGN'ers. I shoot around 80 yards with it.

another option is the Hawke Varmint SF 6-24X44mm I put ones of these on my grandson's CZ scout . Nice scope for the money.

to expand on my previous post. if this is a dedicated BR gun only you cant go wrong with the weaver t36. nothing will come close for that price. however its near useless for anything else.

the mueller apt and apv i recommended will give you everything between plinking and some BR (i bought mine from hookbag. ca/product/HOD0CWOG5). the apt is slightly more ($312 CDN with free shipping) but its the one i would recommend. with 30mm vs 1" tube you will have more elevation and a little bit brighter image with the APT. they have the same crosshair and magnification range. the APT has a larger objective (so again more light). but for me what really made the difference is that the APT has finger adjustable turrets. if you are planning on shooting different ranges it is the best thing possible. just zero at 25 yards and have a range card for what you need to dial in at other ranges. no more unscrewing the cap and messing around with a coin to re-zero every time you change your range. the APT is more ($312 vs $235 for the APV on hookbag as well) but the extra features are what makes it for me. the APV is one of the, if not the best bang for your buck scopes. its was just missing out on a few features which make it perfect. personally, i will gladly pay the extra $80 for those.

Why is when someone comes on here and ask for a scope in a certain dollar range that people got to recommend almost double that amount? The OP wants a $300 scope and there are plenty out there that will do the job.

Just Saying.

I recommended scopes that are above the op's budget if bought new, but can be found all day long used within the op's budget.... still have warranty, are as good as new, and likely the best bang for the buck. What do I know, as I haven't quite shot 1 million rounds of 22 between 50 and 100m, almost there.

Well as soon as you find a good weaver t36 or the Sightron for $300 pm me and EMT on the way. I am about 1 hour from Peter Dobson @ Hirsch and even without shipping it would about $700. I also have shot a couple of rounds of .22 rimfire as I belong to two clubs and been shooting 58 years!
I actually have foot resting on 3 cases of Std + as I type this.

Why is that when somebody ask for a scope in a given price range that people come back with scopes that are twice as much? If the said $2000 somebody would suggest a $3000 March!

Keep in mine since you are using this for target shooting ,find a scope with a fine crosshairs. If you don't some crosshairs are so thick that you will not see the target centre

The Sightron s11 36x is a $480 scope new, used its $300-$350 same for the weaver. just because you don't see one for sale, doesn't mean they don't come up for sale. I have bought and sold both. not sure why the nickers in a knott.

I've got a Redfield 6-18 on my Savage, does great for me. My 452 Vamint in 17 HMR wears the same scope. I previously had a Trophy XLT 6-18 on the HMR, and there is no way I would go back to it.

No way.

Sounds great! You will love shooting it, if it's anything like my MKII. Start with CCI SV and Blazer if you have them. You may find you don't need to look at any other ammo - although that's half the fun

I agree with dizzy.
Sightron or weaver.
Buy once cry once.
If you ask all these people buying cheap scope, how many scopes have they bought. I think youd be shocked. Three or four cheap scopes or one good scope. Buying one good one at higher cost is actually cheaper in the long run.

I run a Sightron SII on my Target .22

I think I paid 320$ from 4Scopes.com but back then the dollar was almost the same....

I have 3 burris C4's, think they are definitely underrated/not very well known in general, in the mid $400-500 range I think they compete well with anything else in that price range....good glass, AO, basic MOA turret knob and free mail in for a custom turret, and an MOA reticle....definitely a great value when they are on sale at WSS for 330

I have used them on a 17, 260 and 300wsm, they track well and always return to my original POI....for a 22 target rifle though, I think you might want a little more than 14x if you're trying to shoot tiny groups at 100, but they make a great hunting scope

I've got one of those Tasco hundredbucker and took it off the T-Bone.
Stuck a VXII 3-9x40 on it.
Also have an older 6-18x40 AO Trophy on me 'Merican.
Have a 3-9x33 Classic on the RAR.
Better optixs is a big jump up from the brown$$ scopes.
Good shooters deserve upper crust otics.
Soooooooooooo do you.

The Leupold rimfire scopes are sweet, but s'pensiff.
There was one in the EE just the other day and pewff........gawn quick.

I just bought a Sightron S1 4*12 and put it on my cz 455. I thinks its a good scope for the money ($200)

the parallax adjustment works really well, the only thing I don't like is, I don't think I can zero my turrets, I think if you buy the TAC model with exposed target turrets they can be zeroed

added a pic

At that price was the Sightron new or used? Seems to be a really good buy!

Sadly tried the Mueller APT was a complete POS will be returning it.Reticle was not even at 90 deg as soon as you move the turrets it won't hold Zero, cheap chinese junk.I settled for this at least it has a real warranty

You settled on a decent scope, now you know why it takes a rich man to buy cheap optics. When you buy cheapo optics you are never satisfied, and you always have to either buy more or buy better, and lose the money you spent on the junk.
