Hi guys,
I just purchased a .22 rifle, namely Browning Buckmark and have to decide on scope for it. I looked on the internet and it seems that many companies make dedicated rimfire scopes. The price ranges from very low to quite significant. I am open to suggestions. I have a Bushnell 3200 fixed 10 on my Swissarms and I like it. So I was looking at Bushnell line and it seems that their rimfire scopes are around $50. Does it mean that they are crap? Or are they good value for the money? I will probably not be shooting beyond 100 yrds. Oh and another thing to consider, the eye relief should probably be not too short, because during firing of Browning the slide moves back and I don't want it to hit my face. So, please, share your opinions with me.

I found that a scope in 3x9x40 gives a great variation in views, For critter shooting it comes in handy for the longer shots. About the 90-100 dollar range Bushnell will by fine. the $50 scopes are too small in diameter for a big field of view. i shoot my .22s at 100 yards ..both at the range and in the fields....all equipped with the 3x9x scopes.

I have to go along with toymaker i dont give much for bushnells rimfire scopes. i just bought a 3-10x403200 off the EE to go on my cz452 and if its anything like the 3-9x50 i have it will be more then good enough.

I have a variety of 22's including a Buckmark HB, all of my field shooters have the Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire scopes on them. Best 22 scope money can buy, with the exception of the 3-9x33 Leupold which I have 2 of. The 2nd best is the Weaver 2-7 and they go for around $199.00.
I have a couple pieces with the cheapy 3-9 Bushnells and are decently accurate if that is all you can afford. They have their place and it is nice that they come with rings.
Nikon has a real nice 2-7 and a fixed 4 power as well.

When it comes to a scope for a .22lr... I'd say get the best you can afford!

My logic been...
- You won't enjoy the rifle if you have crappy/foggy optic.
- It make sense to put some nice optic on a 22lr, since it's probably the gun you'll fire the most.

+1 on the Leupold 2x7 rimfire... Recently got one of them, pretty happy with it. There's some good deal to be had on Ebay.ca...

Thanks for the responses. Keep them coming!!
Fassteel, what scope did you put on your Buckmark? What are your thoughts on variable vs. fixed? I will only be shooting at paper up to 100 yrds.

for paper I like a little more power, ie 12-14 x. for field a 2 or 3 x is better. I have 2-7, 3-9, & a 4-12 on gopher guns. Even 4x is to much on very close gophers running. Look through a few scopes at something 3-400 ys away. That is when you can tell the difference between scopes. The most $$ not always the best. good luck, AJ
