hey guys, i did put this in the rimfire forum, but didn't get any answers so mabey someone here could help me. i'm second guessing my self on a scope purchase for a 22. i bought a bushnell sportsman 3-9X32 model number 72-1393. will this scope work ok or am i better off taking it back for a tasco or the rimfire series? i kinda like this one cause the eye peices are bigger, and the price was right ($44) because i bought it out of the display case with nothing eles. its going on a marlin 70 and i'm using it just for fun in the bush/grouse hunting so i don't need top of the line stuff, just something that i will be happy with. whadda you think?
thanks

That will be fine. Within that price range you did pretty good. For bush/grouse leave it dialed down to 3, set it for 30M or so. Give it a go and see how you like it... I prefer red dots for what you want it for, but a $44 red dot is pretty crappy.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this scope on a 22.

The Sportsman series of scopes is mainly intended for center fire guns and are parallaxed for 100 yds. The big eyepiece that you like, is usually a problem with most rimfire shooters as they feel the scope dimension overwelmes the gun. The Bushnell or Tasco rimfire scopes are parallaxed for 50 yrd, 3-9X32 and come with rings...$56.00 (in our store). Phil.

I shoot a Ruger K10/22T (Stainless target model) with a Fullfield II 3-9x 40mm. You won't have any problems with a non rimfire socpe especially for grouse. That being said since it's a rifle scope without an adjustable objective the parallex will be set as earlier mentioned at 100 yards. That doesn't mean you can't use it. You just have to be aware that your sight picture must be dead on. If your sight picture is off your POI will be slightly off. Also at closer ranges you'll have trouble focussing the target at the higher magnifications. For my scope 5-6x is the max for 25 yards.

With the right ammo (Lapua Super club) I can put 5 shot groups in one hole about the size of the tip on your pinky at 25 yards from a rest. With proper sight picture they are dead on. when my sight picture is slightly off the point of impact is off just a bit. However the groups remain the same (very nice).

I used it the other day at the handgun range. They have small metal rimfire targets set up at 50 yards. The metal square is just a bit bigger than a Grouse's head. From the sitting position I managed to hit 10 out of 10 of those targets. Although on the last couple I was close to missing as I was getting tired.

My long winded point? If it's an all around rifle you can get by with a non rimfire/adjustable objective scope for a .22.

For my higher end rimfire target rifle, I'll be putting on a Leupold EFR 6.5-20x, it does have an adjustable objective down to 10 metres. But that rifle will be used mostle for indoors bench rest.

Use what you have. It'll work fine.

Buds why don't you take a look at the Mueller APV? 4X14. Nice scope. The website Rimfirecentral should have a bunch of info and POC's for purchase. One of the dealers on this board sells them.
