Hello! I am looking for a scope to replace the one currently on a Winchester M70 sporter (Redfield Revolution) I am between the Vortex Diamondback 3-9x50/40 or the Zeiss TERRA X3 3-9x50/42 this will be a primary hunting rifle for whitetails all the way up to moose.

IMO the Terra will be the only one of the two that offers more than a marginal improvement of performance. I'm not a fan of 50mm objective lenses on 3-9x scopes though, too bulky for a relatively low magnification scope, and you can get some improvement in light transmission through moving up to a 30mm tube, but without the added bulk of a large objective.

My suggestion would be to save up a little more and look at something like a Leupold VX-R, VX-3 or Vortex Viper.

Leupold vx2 or bushnell elite get my vote. Have a few of both and no complaints.Haven't jumped on the vortex band wagon. Call me skeptical but all the claims of their great warranty makes me nervous.

I'm skeptical about the lower end Vortex scopes, but I've been impressed with their Razor and Viper lines.

ive had my diamond back 3-9 x 40 on my 300WM and have taken 2 bears with it no problem! I also have there midrange spotting scope and binos. ill look at the bushnell and the vx3 :)

imo your revolution is every bit as good as the diamondback. The terra might be a small step up but I had a pair of the terra binoculars but I wasn't impressed and promptly returned them.
Why are you getting rid of the redfield?

I lost both the turret caps at the range :( (I know really silly) and I cant seem to focus it. it always seems foggy or unclear and Redfield sent it back to me after I complained and it still is the same. any suggestions?

I had the same problem. I got my eyes checked, and it turns out I have an astigmatism. One hair was sharp, the other blurry.

Korth will sell you turret caps.

I honestly don't think the terra or diamondback are a step up. I'd go VX-3 or 6. My VX-6 2-12 is spectacular. Eyebox the size of a loaf of bread.

I Guess ill just order caps and get an eye test! lol thank you very much. that scope has put everything down from my first deer at 100 yards to my first elk and moose at 200! its a gooder for sure!

I have a VXR in 3x9 I like the scope a lot, but it's a tad heavy. And with all due respect to the good opinions above, if I am carrying a gun in Canada, I don't need a huge objective because I am only hunting in broad daylight. And at theses mid to low magnifications, I would rather spend my money on low weight and clear glass. For that reason, I spent 900 on a Swaro Z3 and mounted it on my 30.06. I couldn't be happier. The 1" tube makes for a featherweight. The VXR is illuminated and looks ###y, but that gun is chunky with it.
That being said, if you already have your rings, you may be more inclined to stay the course with what you are already considering. I have found, though, that the slightly higher end scopes hold their value come resale time.
