I did a quick search for recoil-withstanding scopes, but couldn't get a solid answer...so here I am asking.

I recently closed a deal on a Tikka T3 lite in .338win mag. Gun weighs less than 6.5lbs, so going to need something that'll hold solid with some fierce recoil.

With a budget of 3-400$, what's a good recommendation?

Thanks all,

Bushnell 4200 3-9x40. Check around as the price can vary but if you keep the "options" such as firefly reticle and super high magnification down, these are pretty affordable. They are recoil tested for 10,000 rounds of .375 H&H so they should be great on the tikka. Also they are formerly Bausch and Lombe that were bought out by Bushnell and re-badged, so you know B & L know a thing or two about making good glass. I have 3 Elites and they are great for the money. (2x 3200 and 1x 4200) No malfunctions, no problems, and the rainguard coating is awesome when it gets wet and foggy outside.

In your price range shop hard for a VX 11 3-9. This scope has about 1/2" more eye relief than the 2.5-8 VX111 which may help a bit. With that little T3 Lite in .338 I'd think more about scope bite than anything else. Its definitely going to get your attention, don't let it cut you.

Bushnell !!!!

I have a Browning a bolt in .338 it has a Bushnell 3200 series on it
3.5x10/50mm , weaver mounts and ring's , It has approx 500 round's through it and never had a problem in any way with the scope or mount's ,I have seen the same scope on sale for as low as $300.00

Scope selection should be based more on the type of hunting you do and terrain you hunt in then the caliber of the rifle.

My 22/250 wears a 2x7. It's flat shooting for sure, but I use it as a deer rifle in mostly close shooting, so the 2x7 is perfect. A 4x12 or bigger would be way too much scope.
