Hello, I enjoy shooting my Dlask 7.5"bbl AR with Aimpoint 4MOA and LMT fixed bkup sights inside 50yrds.
However, at 100yrds I'm finding my aging eyes are having difficulty seeing the target. (My son doesn't have a problem). So, I'm wondering what compact scopes will let me shoot close in and take me out to 100yrds (maybe 200yrds) that won't look rediculous on my rifle.
I'm thinking maybe a fixed 4x?

Thanks for your help. Here's a pic.....

I had a 1.5-4.5 scope on my AR-15 with a 11.5" Wilson barrel can get 2 moa at 280 yards with a huge scope on but took it off due to size/weight. Try put a cheap 3x behind your dot sight if you want to keep cost down.

I'm with Kevin...you're just going to add a ton of weight and for what? gain a bit of target identification? I'd keep the Aimpoint or ditch that and just use irons...but it's your carbine...whatever floats your boat! If you MUST, I would recommend an Aimpoint 3x magnifier. At least then you could ditch it if you don't want the weight and you won't have to invest in a whole other optic. You're half way there!

Dude its a 7.5" bbl, they where designed for a gunfight in a phone booth.

Gunfight in a phone booth...that hilarious! What if I barely fit in a phone booth. Just kiddinng. I hear what your saying but sometimes I just want to shoot out to 100+ without having to unpack another firearm.

A magnifier! That may be a solution. Why didn't I think of it? That's why this forum rocks!
Now to find one that won't break the bank. I guess I'll have to remove the rear fixed sight to make room

Search is on....

You could just get a cheap $50 copy to try first prior to spending the money on a quality item. See if it works for you and what your trying. 3x is still fairly weak for a long range thing. Have a Arm 40L under this unit as a back up sight.

If you put a scope on it and shoot out to 100M with it make sure you ave a big target. Their accuracy is disappointing at that range. Better off upgrading the red dot or just buying more ammo.
