Hey guys,
Im close to picking up my first cz 452 in 22LR, actually this will be my first 22lr.
My question is what recommendations do you have for a scope. They say you should spend the same amount on the scope as you did on the gun. Let's say a max budget of 600$. I'm looking to shoot targets for the most part 100 yard and longer would be nice
Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated

Weaver T-36 is a good start

the above is true only if you never wish to shoot offhand or in other positions....

A weaver 6-26x40 or a sightron 6-24, 8-32 is the way to go, they fit into your price range and allow you to drop the magnification for a steadier hold when shooting offhand, leupold VX III 6-18 can also be found used in your price range

there is also a nice bushnell 6-24 used on the EE for 400 bucks, if I wasn't at a point where I had more scopes then rifles I'd grab it myself

The Sightron is my favorite

For target shooting at 50 to 100 yards, a variable scope such as 6-24X or 8-32X with AO or side focus and a relatively fine reticle (crosshairs) is the way to go. Weavers can be hard to find in Canada, but Sightron offers scopes are available in the magnification range referred to. But with a budget around $600, it might be worthwhile keeping an eye on the EE for a good scope that is affordable.

Sweet rifle!!! Bolt clearance can be an issue with certain scopes. There was a couple threads about it not long ago. I had to use the signature Burris high rings with inserts. They are higher than the leupold and normal Burris high rings. I'm using a vortex crossfire 2 scope 6-18.

Leupold RimFire Scope...2-7 power.
You can call it done .

Perhaps it's not impossible, but when someone recommends a 2-7 power scope for target shooting at 100 yards with a .22, you have to wonder if he has ever tried it himself. A low magnification scope like that suggested is great for hunting, not target shooting. A target shooter at 50 and 100 yards will want to see
the bulls eye distinctly, he will want to see the crosshairs precisely on the centre of the target.

The absence of such low power scopes on the 50 yard challenge is silent testimony about it's inadequacy for the job.

The Leupold VX-2 3-9X33 Rimfire EFR is my favorite rimfire scope in a moderate magnification range, at around $600. My second favorite is the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X w/side focus, but at a significant weight and cost penalty.

YMMV, but beyond 100 yards the 22LR is not my first choice.

That's all I use now keeps the scope clean from marks and allows adjustments I could not get on other rings / mounts

I agree, for target shooting I like at least a 24 power, for hunting my 3x9 is more than enough.

+1 for the Leupold VX-2 3-9X33 Rimfire EFR

I have one on my 455 with Burris Signature low rings. The bolt clears just fine. I would do it again if I got myself a 452

Weaver V24 ticks the boxes pretty well. Have one on my 452 f's, good hunter. My target shooting is limited to 20yrds, indoors during the winter. Summer is gopher popping' time.

Not going to make any assumptions about the OP's experience level...but...I don't consider 22LR to be a great 100 yard gun. My 452 Varmint with an upgraded trigger is an "accurate rifle" as far as my expectations go (shooting fast/bulk ammo at about 1/2" @ 50 yards) but I simply don't consider myself a target shooter at all. It's a dedicated gopher rifle at the moment, living in Alberta. I do miss it. :) Anyhow, a 452 might be a good target gun in a very experienced set of hands, can't say for sure.

Assuming "target" means informal target shooting, and, that it's 100 yards and nothing else..I think the higher/fixed magnification target scopes are the way to go. Mine wears a $300 Sightron S1, 4-12 HHR. Good gopher scope, certainly a decent scope for targets out to 75 yards. Not saying it's best for the OP though.

A very good opinion if I may say so...

Define Target and Range and one will have a wealth of knowledgeable peoples offering their experience.

100 yrds/meters and expecting bug hole type accuracy???

OP, please share your scope and ring choice when you have decided some (me) may learn a thing or two.

I have a cz 452 22 magnum. I recommend at 4.5-14x40 in Nikon, Burris or vortex. I did put Leupold rings on it. If you have to really watch which rings and how they fit. Good luck!

My 452 has a vx2 efr 3x9 and I love it, gophers hate it unless it's a bench only gun stay away from 6x24 power high magnification needs good glass quality.
