I'm looking at a Mueller Tactical Rifle Scope, Black, 8.5-25 x 44mm. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience fitting it to a 455 using Leupold high 11mm rings. And how tight the clearance would be.
I looked there, the combo was not listed. In fact it seemed no one had 8.5-25, people went with the target 8.5-32x44 or 4.5-14x40. The problem is the 8.5-32x44 has a 30mm tube. The 8.5-25x44 only has 1 inch tube. I was hoping to not have to buy new rings.
I have the 455 Canadian and the 455 varmint tacticool so I don't have to worry about the clearing sights. I was just worried about the 44mm objective having clearance with the high Leupold rings. I have thought about trying to get my hands on a dip rail.
Well warne rings seem to be very popular. I've been pretty happy with the Leupold rings those. They look good with my vx2 3-9x33 efr. All this looking at scopes make me wonder if I should go with a sightron SII 6-24x42 over the mueller. I've had no experience with either brand and they aren't readily available to get a hands on experience in Winnipeg.
I can't speak about Sightron, as I have never owned one, but I have had a couple dozen Mueller's and have been impressed with the quality at that price point... I have never had a problem or failure. I have the 8.5-25X44 on my daughter's .22... and she likes it a lot.
As for rings, I prefer Warne or Leupold over CZ OEM rings, on some I have gone with DIP rails and QD rings. The CZ rings are solid, but are poorly finished and blocky, quite crude, IMO.
Burris Sig Zee rings for me on top of DIP rails. I use Sig Zees on all my rifles. Great rings, easy cant adjustments, and no ring marks on the scope. What's not to like?
