These days the main tube on scopes are short made for the masses of short action shooters
as well as the AR guys are there any scopes that would mount on a long action rifle without scope extension rings
Rifle is a Husquvarna 1900. RIfle main use is hunting the twilight minutes open farm field. And target work.
I would like to find something with a 50 mm or 56 mm for all the light grabbing ability possible.

?
what should I be looking for

I’ve run into this problem numerous times, especially with old Mauser actions. It’s actually tough to find scopes with a long enough tube to fit if you’re using the Weaver 2 piece bases, or even the old Leupold/Redfield style bases.

Believe it or not, it seems that some of the older 1” tube scopes are the ones that work. Bausch and Lomb will fit. Older Bushnell seem to work. I’ve got an older Bushnell 6-24X42? that fits them. I used to have a 6-18X50 that worked as well. Both 1” tubes and adjustable objective.

My 458wm mkx wears a bushnel 2-7x32 with 2pc bases
My Sauer 9.3x62 wears a bushnel forge 1-8x32 i believe. Could be 30mm. Illuminated g4
My 2506 wears a nightforce shirt 4-14x56 Illuminated moar
For hunting n target i recommend the nightforce
For hunting i like the forge with just the center dot. The forge is so close to the nightforce glasswise its hard to notice a difference
They used to make a hugh magnification forge scope

I’ve found the larger objective is problematic on the classic long actions.
Personally I’ve found anything above a 40mm objective is hit and miss as to fitment.
As the objective gets larger the cone behind it either gets longer or the turrets get closer, the OAL doesn’t usually change much but the usable real estate for the rings shrink considerably.
If you compare a Leupold VXII in 3-9x40 vs the same scope in 50 you lose about 3/4” of where you can clamp that front ring on even though both scopes are about the same OAL and on the actions I’ve played with it’s a show stopper.
Even the 40 has very limited adjustment for eye relief but at least it will fit (in all the rifles I’ve had).
Off set rings are an option, sometimes longer bases to get the rings closer together are an option or both combined but if available a picatinny rail can solve any mounting problem.
But if you don’t want anything constricting the action opening then I’d just go with a 40mm objective; a 3.5-10x40 VX3 is still a great scope.

I had a S&B Klassik with 26 mm tube in 8x56 sold it on a rifle … great scope very hard to find rings and a base for it
I am actively searching for a 1 pc mount Leupold for the Husquvarna 1900
