Scope for a model 100

What are you using it for ? Bush , midrange or long range (within limits) . Bushnell Trophy 1.5 x 4 x 40 , midrange 2x7 x40 up to same model in 3x9 x40 . Others will be along with their favored setups !

I would suggest finding a used Weaver scope - K3 or K4 - reticle of your choice. Oldest ones will say Kx - 60 - then 60B, 60C and so on. About "best" are the last original made in USA - they will say "Micro Trac" on the vertical turret - left side. I have not owned "newer" Weavers made off-shore - so no experience with them. I doubt that you will need to pay more than $150 - likely less. Will match up about perfect with that rifle and that cartridge. "Modern" people will want variable power - from those days, I suspect that the fixed powers were much better item. After a scope, will also need bases and rings to attach to your rifle. Most of my hunting rifles, through to 9.3x62, have the bog standard inexpensive aluminum Weaver bases - others seem to think they might be inadequate. I think oldest ones that we have are on a Model 70 Winchester that I bought new in 1976 - bases seem just fine - I believe that my son installed Burris rings when he got a Burris scope for it - since mid-1980's, pretty much steady diet of Speer 165 grain at Speer's Max in their various reloading manuals - we show a few fps plus or minus 2,800 fps on the Shooting Chrony.

If you're looking for a scope from the same era as the rifle, a weaver from that period would be a model 60B or 60C. A K4 60B with a duplex recticle is a good scope. If you are looking for a modern scope then anything would work - vortex, leupold, etc. 1-4x or 2-7x are generally lighter than higher power scopes.

Unless you are buying upper-end Vortex, avoid them.

They have a good warranty, but on their lower end to
mid-grade stuff, you will be using that warranty too
frequently.
I think an older steel tube Weaver 4x would be perfect
on that Winchester, OP. Dave.

My model 100 308win has a Weaver 4x, bought the gun used with this scope on it in the mid 80's and never felt a need to change anything up. :)

A 40-60 year old weaver is probably due for maintenance at some point too. I have a small collection of old weavers made from the 1940s to about 1980. The majority of them benefitted greatly from being serviced, cleaned, and recharged with N2 and then they should be good for another lifetime. Average cost for that ran $100-$150 per scope.
