Howdy,

I was wondering if someone could recommed a scope which would allow me to hit in the 100yard range with a scout mount on an SKS. The less I have to spend the better...

Thanks in advance.

If you are set on a scout mount check out these guys, http://www.scoutscopes.com/. I have a receiver mount from lever arms on mine which works fine and was fairly cheap. Keep in mind that scope or no scope you have to have reasonable expecations about what your SKS is capable of.

I have put on an aftermarket stock, and had the barrel recrowned, and I am hitting 3-4" groups at 100 yards.

I don't think that you can get a true scout scope for cheap, but I've found that many of the inexpensive shotgun scopes on the market have enough eye relief to be used in a scout-type position. I have a cheapo Simmons 2.5x20 shotgun scope that gives a full field of view out to about nine inches. It's mounted on a 10/22 with a cantilever barrel mount screwed onto the barrel backwards, giving me a poor man's scout set-up for cheap practice.

Otherwise, you can always put a red dot sight in the forward scout position, and it would be well-suited to the accuracy of the SKS.

Do you feel that you need optics to hit 100 yards?

Or is it just that you prefer optics?

Cause I shoot sks in Service rifle out to 300 yards with stock open sights, and I'm able to get all the rounds on target to 200 with ease... 300 yards, i hit 50 to 70% of the time.

sks scope????

all i can say is i wont put another variable scope on a sks, the last one was a bushnell that was turned into a rattle in under 20 rounds ,, at the time i was unaware that there was a shell deflecter available , i am contemplating putting a short scope possibly a red dot on amount from marstar with the tri rails, for a light or laser,,
