Scope for BLR?

I'm looking to put a scope on my old BLR. The current has a large objective bell and hits the front sight. It seems like a lot of eye relief is needed for this rifle as well.

Any suggestions? I was thinking of a straight tube fixed 4X Leupold or something similar.

Remove the front sight,if need be.I have a vx111 3x9x40 on mine,with low mount i believe.

I have always thought that large scopes are a waste on BLR's as they are a nice, compact outfit and lose a bit of ergos when they sport optics with big lenses. My BLR has a 2x7x32 Bushnell 3200 on it and I really, really like it. It is not a super high end scope or anything, but it has served me very well. It is not a big scope and keeps the gun a little handier. If you want to step up a bit, Leupold has compacts that are nice as does Burris. The optics are can still be very good in spite of lens size.
