I've got a CIL bolt action 30 30 that I'm trying to scope. bases and rings are in but my scope is having a bit of problems clearing the bolt on the back bell of the scope. The bolt opens and closes but it is very very close and I would like a little more clearance.

There is no way to shim or adjust anything and also the base and rings are a single unit and higher rings are not an option.

I recall seeing pictures of older scopes where the rear bell is smaller than todays bushnell scopes. Does anyone know of some make or models of some older scopes that have a 1" tube that might solve my problems.

Thanks

Hello
1.You could allways use higher rings though this looks less than profesional.
2. A long eye relef scope or one of the newer red dor types might be an option. You can mount if forwarsd of the bolt handle.

Alot of the older scopes were 7/8 " diamiter and/or had smaller ocular (lens closest to your eye) lenses. Not great for gathering light.

Bending or reshaping the bolt handle may be an option as well

just my $.02

you could go with an older Weaver scope. what magnification were you looking at. another option is to have a 1 piece top mount rail done up for your rifle, drill and tap and then scope won't be the issue. The scout mount is another option with a Vortex EER scope or the Strikefire with the 2x magnification, and add the swing out magnifier piece to it to give you some versatility.
