Scope for CZ 457 .22LR gopher hunting

Sounds like your scope is pooched.

From Athlon, anything from the talos to the most expensive variable will work. Just watch the distance for min focus... the distances tends to be pretty close to real world distance. 10m is as close as they go... not all can do that.

I dusted off a very old Bushnell Scopechief 4X... surprisingly good glass and can be focused from 25yds to 125yds.. a bit of tweaks on the occular focus for the far shots. Duplex reticle and will just figure out the holdovers.

As much as I can launch 22LR way out there, I feel the hitting power is limited to 125yds and in.... YMMV

Anything further will get something from my 223.... or 22 CM.

Take a look at the Leupold VX Freedom Rimfire with the Tri MOA reticle. Once you learn how to use the reticle there is no "dialing" required, you can switch from 10 yard to 100 yard shots instantly. I use one on a CZ 457 Varmint and it works great.

I’ve got the Freedom Rimfire 3-9x40 on my Ruger. Wouldn’t buy another one. Not that the scope is bad, the optics are very good, BUT, the 60 yard fixed parallax adjustment makes anything past 80 yards blurry. When we are gopher shooting, many of the shots are 100 yards or a little more. Plan on replacing it with something that has a parallax adjustment.

Sorry to hear that. Mine is crystal clear at 100-125 yards, after that the .222 & .22 K-Hornet take over. The 60 yard parallax works great no issues what so ever. Send it in there is something wrong and Korth will repair or replace it. I would buy another one no question.

Did you focus the reticle to your eye while looking at the sky?

I didn't buy one because of the lack of AO. I will only buy scopes with it from now on. My hunting scope is set to 100-150 but that's fine for what I'm using it for (deer within 200)

On my gopher guns, .22, .22wmr, .17hmr, are pretty well all Leupolds of one kind or other. Simple as that.

The reticle is focused fine. It’s the back round that gets out of focus past 75 yards due to the 60 yard setting.

I put a Burris Droptine on my 77/22 last spring and I've been real happy with it. I think the 3-9 zoom is a bit unnecessary for a rimfire and normally I don't touch it unless I shoot at something way out there but I shot thousands of gophers with a fixed 4 power scope over the years and never wished I had more magnification. For gophers past 100 yards I get out the 223 with a 6.5-20 Leupold on it.

I took a chance and ordered a tract 22 rimfire 4-12 with a nice reticle. Should be in this week. Just need a gopher patch to try it out.

There's a great deal on a Meopta Optika 6 2.5-15x44 - just posted to CGN today. I'd buy it, but I already have this same scope on both my gopher rifles.

My rig is a 455 supermatch with a Riton 6-12 x 50 conqueror. Very new scope, but my second Riton, the other one is a 4-6 x 44 Primal and it has been riding my 6.5 x 55.

I just put a Riton X1 conquer 6-24 on a tikka 17hmr
I dont use the full zoom, its much clearer at 12-16 power, which is perfect for the 200yd max i shoot this rifle to
Side parallax, MOA SFP, tracks as it should up/down & L/R. I dial up 5-6 moa at most. Great deal for the price, for a rimfire. 600 rounds thru it, no issue.
Use a rangefinder bino with ballistic calculator - range, dial, shoot, splat.
Not sure i would trust it with any sort of recoil, but for what I use it for, am very very happy.

They seem well built. Besides this scope on my CZ, I have a Primal 1 on my 6.5 x 55 with 500+ rounds since mounting the scope; zero issues. I am completely satisfied with both.
