If the price was the same, and going on just brand....personal experience ....anything but Leupold. Dante a Montreal retailer has a good deal on Monarch in your price range. Have liked my Zeiss and Vortex scopes. If picking Vortex, there is a noticeable bump in quality with the Viper, over their diamondback and crossfire.

I have a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14x44 mil dot and I really like it. Very clear optic for the price.

VX3 3.5-10. Without dragging the explanation out too long; if your plan is to drive stateside and just bring it back you'd be better off forgetting about it.

I've taken Leupold vx 3 off the list due to the price, agree with "Dogleg", I wouldn't want to buy it from the states.
narrow the list down to 3 scopes..

thanks for the input, "jrcarbine". I want to get the best scope under $500. I think you get you pay for, with a little bit extra $, I might extend my hour in the morning and evening, and have a bit more weather resistance.
the reason I decide to upgrade my rifle is I have difficult to aim at coyote in grass field with iron sight on my old Mauser. I want to get a scope enable me the most...
