i want to get a scope on my 12gauge for deer and coyote hunting. I'd like to spend around 150$ with taxes. So probably a scope in the 3-9x. I also use this gun for turkey hunting so how will that effect the accurcy when im switching barrels every spring.

also should i get a cantlever (sp)?

I bought a Remington 23" fully rifled cantilever barrel complete with Rings and a Scope at Cabela's. Remington put these Items together in a cello pack for $225 US that was $25 cheaper than the Remington 21" fully rifled cantilever barrel on its own. The store clerk in cabelas Claimed the 23 barrel would have less jump than the 21" As far as the scope is concerned it is a 2-7 power and has a Remington logo. It is a low end scope but the price is right, check it out!

PS haven't shot it yet!

ya i have a slug barrel right now for it but i'd like to get a rifled one for sabots. I'm just wondering is there scopes just for shotguns? I'd probably get that remington 23" rifled cantilever barrel. That way i can switch barrels for turkey hunting. Just need to find a good scope in the $150range

This is the scope I have on mine:

They're usually a bit more money but a used (remember, no taxes on used scopes) Leupold VariX III 1.5x5x20 with it's long eye relief, good optics and lifetime guarantee would be a terrific slug gun scope. The FOV on 1.5x is really wide and the eye relief > 4".

My dad has a reddot scope on his that he likes. I'd rather just get a normal scope since im used to them wit my rimfires. Leupolds are pretty much out of my price range unless i could find a used one in good condition for around 150-200$.

A low powered scope as discribed above is the best. A shotgun with a 30mm lens tube is heavy and large to carry on a shotgun. Keep in the 20 mm for turkeys. Another thing to keep in mind is the RED tinge you see in the red dots front lens ,,yes turkeyt see the same thing and some don't have time to get away and other most often or not don't get caught in a shooting range after seeing the red of a red dot...
