Scope for older AR-15 need some help.

I have a older Colt AR-15 Sporter. The carrying handle doesnt not come off, its part of the gun, what kind of scope could you get that would fit on the carrying handle?
 
I had a Colt SP-1 and it had the fixed carrying handle. There was a hole through the carrying handle. An inexpensive scope mount dropped into the channel formed by the top handle and was secured by a nut from beneath. Any standard Weaver ring fit onto the rail. There are also some small diameter scopes that fit right onto the carry handle and secure by way of that same hole.

Search "scope mount ar-15 weaver rail" and you should find lots of examples on the net.
 
You could put one of these on:

Then you could put either a red dot on or a high mounted scope. You may need a riser to get a proper weld.
 
Looking again as well after my cheapo RDS went to hell. Looked at some Trijicon stuff.....$1400? Thats more than I paid for the rifle. Surely someone is running a reasonable priced optic around $350 that would work on a AR with carry handle.
 
GUNGUY34 if you want an old Norinco scope/mount to fit your old carry handle, my friends shop has one brand new/ old stock from about 10-12 years ago, for sale, I think under $200, give me a PM if interested? cheers Dale Z

get something like that then mount whatever you wish on top, its see through as well so you can use the irons as backup
