Hi,i got rem 700 sps .308 now i will need to choose a scope, ring and base, they are so many, what would be a good (qualitee and price) scope for range chooting firts and hunting maybe, around $300 to $500.00.thanks:confused:

What Scope?

Target shooting, to what range, 100 to1000??? It depend on what you had in mind, there are a lot of good scopes in this price range, but we need more info. What reticle duplex mildot or???

Just perusing their site, I notice on some scopes it says that they cannot be shipped out of the USA. The Conquest does not say this so I assume you can purchase a scope from them.

If you want to spend a little more and have a real nice unit, you can go to the 4.5-14 Zeiss, they have many different reticles also. I have had a few of them and for out to 300 yards you could pick off golf balls, if you have the skills!!:p

Sometimes nice to have that little bit more magnification.

Not saying they are the only scope out there, but for what you get it's tough to beat the value.

I would highly recommend the Zeiss Conquest, Bushnell 6000 (maybe even 4200) series or Leupold VX3 or better and I would buy used on the EE,, you will get a better scope for your money than buying new.

I would recommend a Falcon Optics brand scope. I have a 4-14x44 mounted on my Rem 700 SPS Varmint .308 LH. Bought it from Frontier, $440 delivered. It works very well for my purposes (100-300 yard) and has enough elevation (with 20 MOA base) to hit anything out to and past 1000 yards. Only complaints would be that the knobs are rather stiff, however it has clear + bright optics, parallax adjustment and a massive 30mm main tube.

I have a couple Remington short action rifles here topped with Ex-Low Talley Lightweights and a Leupold VXII 2x7.

This combination is very light, fits perfectly and works very well for most hunting situations. You won't be disapointed.
