Scope for Remington 597 that won't break the bank

Just bought a very gently used Remington 597.
any suggestions for optics that won't break the bank ( just a casual plinker here nothing fancy preferably under 100$) it came with a rail attached. Thanks in advance.

Youtube, Google. Took me longer to read the post, Then to find what your looking for.. I googled Rem 597 disassembly manual and got PDF and videos.

Go to rimfire central and research the gun there. The rods on the bolt need to be torqued but not how the manual says. This is a really sensitive gun to put back together.

A Simmons .22mag 3-9-32 AO would do a great job for about 80$.

This is always my response to this question and its a little over $100. Bushnel banner 4-12 with adjustable objective. Sometimes you want to go a little over 9x on the range and will dial down even at 12x at 10 yards and its good in low light too.
Any problems box it up and mail it to the GTA.

i made an offer on a simmons as mentioned above for sale in the EE but if that doesnt fall through i will certainly look into the bushnell as well

Is this for hunting , plinking, range work or a combination of these? Reason I ask is I don't find higher magnification good for hunting on a rimfire. I have a cheap bushnell banner 1.5-4.5x32 on my 597 in .22lr and it is perfect for small game hunting.

No hnting. Just target/plinking.

Depends on what you are using the 22 for and the ranges.I use my 22 mainly for plinking,casual target shooting and small game.Ranges are under 50 yards . A Bushnell 4x Rimfire serves very adequitely for this purpose,and costs about$50 on sale.Nothing fancy but it works as long as you hold it straight

I use that scope on my 308 mauser I like it.

I used a Bushnell Banner 3x9 for both plinking and hunting.

Simmons 3-9x32 22mag. I have one of these scopes on my Remington 597ss 22lr and it works great for the price. Got mine as a Xmas gift from my hunting buddy. He had gotten it new at CT in Dieppe NB. Does the trick for sure and don't plan on changing it up.

had a bushnell Banner a 1-4x on my 597HB. Friend sold me a ncstar 3-9x for penuts so tossed that on. bushnell high quality but hey ncstar hold 0 no issues and the 9x is nice. the 1-4x was rated as a shotgun scope so its going on a shotgun for slugs.

But side note, what place has best prices on bushnell Banner scopes ?? they seam to be best band for buck for starter scope.
