Scope for SG 542

Anyone have any suggestions? I have looked at a few. Thought I wanted an Elcan but the eye relief seem terrible. Wouldn't mind a full sized hunting scope but am worried about the closer range also. Is there anything anyone would recommend? 3X doesn't seem like enough for some situations and others it seems perfect. Want to use the SG 542 for target shooting and have it as a bush gun for deer during hunting season. I have never had to take a deer at more than 250 yards and most the time it has been well under 100.

Maybe a 4x ACOG with .308 BDC would be the ticket? That or an Elcan Spectre DR 1.5-6 w/.308 BDC.

I use a 2x7 Redfield on my ar15 with good results. Not a big cost
