I received my diopter sights for my Black special but am having difficulty finding a scope I can use with it now.
I have an Elcan Tr 1x3x9 but it is not high enough to clear the diopter sights. Does anyone have suggestion is there a mount I could get to raid the scope ? Would an Acog be better or am in the same boat.

You'll need a higher mount that would be appropriate for an AR with a longer eye relief scope and pair those two with a Swiss Arms Cheek riser.

I think an acog would work. Get one with longer eye relief, TA11.

So your rifle is a factory flat top and you ordered a diopter sight for it? Did you change out the front sight as well? Where from and how much?

Seeing as how you'd have to take the scope off to use the diopter set, you could do the reverse of that and keep your Elcan on there and then swap out the diopters when you want to shoot irons.
If the placement on the rail and the torque is consistent from mounting to mounting, zero shift with the rear drum would theoretically be nil to minimal - worth trying.

If you tell me how high the drum sits on your rail, I can go through some typical scope configurations.
If you are set on using your Elcan, you are stuck with the option above, getting a riser for your rail or running two rifles - one with irons and one with a scope.

That was my thoughts was just to remove the rear's the only complaint I have is there is two little spring's on the rail base that fall out easily. i would not want to swap back and forth in the outdoors as if i lost one of the springs i would be pouched I think. I have a stag 10 and I am avoiding buying two new scopes lol

If Acog is your thing, I use my .223 for .308 147gr. They are very close.

16” barrel dope:

100 meters: dead on
200: 1/2 MOA too low (~1" too low)
300: 1/2 MOA too low (~1.5" too low)
400: 3/4 MOA too low (~3" too low)
500: 1/2 MOA too low (~2.5" too low)
600: dead on
700: 1/2 MOA too high (~3.5" too high)
800: 2 MOA too high (~16" too high

Will be even closer with your 18.5” Stag.
