I'm just getting started with longer range target shooting and I recently purchased a Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and I'm looking for a scope.

I'm looking at a Zeiss Conquest HD 5X25 50 Lockable Target Turret Rapid Z Varmint Reticle, what are your thoughts on this scope. I'm looking for something in the middle zone for pricing for target scopes. I like the glass quality and the brightness of the Zeiss, just concerned with the range of elevation adjustments with the zero stop in place.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

John

I have a Steiner 4-16x on the same rifle. No problem making accurate hits at 400m. It depends what you mean by "long range" - if I wanted to reach out to 1200m, I would want something with a bit more magnification, around 25-35x.

Depending on the game being played, 25-35X is sometimes not the best. F class and bench rest yes I would agree that having the option to dial up that high, or higher would be advantageous. If you are playing PR or PRS, generally 12-18X is all you will use.

I have the Delta Stryker 4.5-30x DLR-1 on my Tac A1 with a 20 MOA unimount. Great scope in the middle price range. If you want a more widely known company the Athlon Cronus BTR is essentially the same.

Do you just plan on shooting for fun or is there a certain discipline you plan on doing?

That will dictate what you should go with.

I have heard good things about Zeiss quality/clarity but not great for PRS.

Thanks for everyone's input, I've decided to go with a Nightforce NXS 8-32 X 56 with a MOAR-T reticle.

I'm interested in F-Class, that's why I selected a second focal plane scope.

I went over budget, but trying to avoid having to upgrade later on.

I am in the same position. A new Tac A 1 will be here shortly and I need an optic and mount. Looking at Nikon and Leupolds. Any one want to comment on rings ?
