scope help: tasco 6-24x42

I just got a tasco 6-24x42 scope yesterday.
it has a mildot recticle, wich know a little bit about, but you can turn the end of scope (like the magnification, but on the other end) and it has numbers wich seem to be distance.
I dont know what that is or how to use it, so if some one who knows how to use this could explain it or post a link to an article that would be great.
and any info on using the mildot would also be apreciated.

Did it come with a manual? Seriously...lots to explain.

Heres the coles notes: Front=A/O (Adjustable Objective), allows you to focus at your set range and eliminates paralax error at that range

Rear dial: Magnification

Mil-dots: Can be used for range estimation....google it.

hehe, i think i got er figured
i have only owned one scope before this one, so im pretty in the dark.
i bought it used off westicle, so no manule
