scope horror stories

Good Day, does anyone have any thoughts on cheapo spotting scopes? I would only be using it on a 20 yd pistol range.

Had 2 nighforce nxs scopes go back for warranty. One the zero stop came right off and the other wouldn't hold zero. The one that wouldn't hold zero came back with no fault found paperwork but low and behold the scope held zero since!
