I am really confused, read the moderator's sticky on scope importation, but e-mailing the Optic Zone, I was told an export permit was necessary only if sending scopes to Canada, he said we could bring them back no problem. Who is right?

The Optics Zone is wrong.

All firearms optics require U.S. Export permits to be legally shipped outside of the U.S.

Does not matter if yuo have the scope shipped to you here, or you go across and pick it up yourself. You require an Export permit.

The U.S. Commerce Dept. controls firearms optics and their mounts and they currently have no expemtions as far as optics are concerned.

What you have to do is actually contqact the Govt. Agencies that control the items you want.A lot of business do not know,or are ignorant towards the U.S. regulations.

A few businesses have been caught exporting without the required paperwork and have recieved VERY large fines.Needless to say those businesses no longer ship to Canada.

SKBY.

I am sure they are more than happy to sell it to you in the states and let YOU bring it back. That way you are breaking the law and not them.

We have lots of good stuff this side of the border anyway. ;)
